Download
Calibre2opds downloads are now hosted on Google Drive. You can always download the latest available files from there.
NOTE
When using Google Drive we have noticed that if you want the ZIP file then the Google Drive web site seems to default to showing the contents of the ZIP file with the Open link highlighted. You instead need to click on the Download link to the right of that to get such files. Other file types seem to default to downloading so are easier to handle. If anyone knows how to change this behaviour we would welcome knowing the details!
Previous releases are also available if you want one of those.
NOTE: We moved the downloads from GoogleCode to Google Drive as Google have discontinued support of Downloads from GoogleCode
If you find any problems then please report them via one of the following routes:
- The calibre2opds forum
- The calibre2opds Issue Register
The forum is the preferred route for general questions about Calibre2opds. The Issue Register is the route you should use if you want to report a bug or request a new feature (i.e. a change will be required to the source code to resolve the issue).
If you simply leave comments here they are very likely to get overlooked.
calibre2opds v4.0 beta (rev 425 – 16th Apr 2018)

- Manual Install (Platform independent) (.zip)
Instructions on how to use this install package can be found in the relevant section of the online User Guide. - Release notes (.txt)
(A copy of the Release notes is also included in the other downloads)
Hint: sometimes a new revision is posted without remembering to update the above rev details. Check Google Drive to be certain which is the latest build available.
calibre2opds v3.6 beta (rev 424 – 16th Apr 2018)
NOTE: The 3.6 (rev 382) build is the last one that works with Java 6. Later builds require at least Java 7. The rev 382 build will therefore be kept online for those who need it.
The development of Calibre2opds v3.6 has completed. The current downloads available are:
- Windows and Linux (.jar)
- Mac OSX (.dmg)
- Manual Install (Platform independent) (.zip)
Instructions on how to use this install package can be found in the relevant section of the online User Guide. - Release notes (.txt)
(A copy of the Release notes is also included in the other downloads)
calibre2opds v3.5 (rev 369)
The development of Calibre2opds v3.5 has completed. The current downloads available are:
- Windows and Linux (.jar)
- Mac OSX (.dmg)
- Manual Install (Platform independent) (.zip)

calibre2opds v3.4 (rev 340)
Calibre2opds v3.4 has been released. The 3.4 release is now the official production release (although it is still recommended that you consider using the 3.5 beta release for additional features/fixes it includes).:
- Windows and Linux (.jar).
- Mac OSX (.dmg)
- Manual Install (Platform independent) (.zip)
Instructions on how to use this install package can be found in the relevant section of the online User Guide. - Release notes (.txt)
(A copy of the Release notes is also included in the other downloads)
calibre2opds v3.3 (rev 274)
The development of Calibre2opds v3.3 has come to an end. The final 3.3 downloads available are:
- Windows and Linux (.jar)
- Mac OSX (.dmg)
- Manual Install (Platform independent) (.zip)
- Release notes (.txt)
(a copy of the Release notes is also included in the other downloads)
There is one feature that we thought might make the 3.3 release that has not made it as it has proved harder to implement than originally envisaged. That is the facility to allow new catalog sub-sections to be generated based on Custom Columns. This is now on the roadmap for the 3.4 release.
calibre2opds v3.2 (rev 233)
The 3.2 release of Calibre2opds has a large number of fixes and enhancements relative to the 3.1 release. The download available are:
- Windows installer (.exe)
- Linux (.jar)
- Mac OSX (.dmg)
- Manual Install (.zip)(Platform independent)
- Release notes (.txt)
NOTE: A bug has been found in the 3.2 release where if you do more than one generate run without reloading calibre2opds, then the second (and subsequent) generates runs will not produce valid output The workaround is to always reload calibre2opds between generate runs. You are recommended to use the 3.3 beta releases which have fixed this issue.
calibre2opds v3.1 (rev 170)
This 3.1 release of calibre2opds fixes a number of issues found with the 3.0 release as well providing a number of small enhancements.. Read the release notes to get an idea of the scale of the changes.
- Windows installer
- Fixes for 64-bit Windows systems. These are replacement run.cmd and rungui.cmd files to fix some issues with calibre2opds not starting correctly on some 64-bit Windows systems. Extract the files from the ZIP overwriting the ones in calibre2opds install folder.
- Linux
- Mac OSX
- Manual Install (Platform independent)
- Release notes
calibre2opds v3.0 (rev 151)
This is the new 3.0 release. This release should fix lots of problems found with earlier releases and there are also many new features. Read the release notes to get an idea of the scale of the changes.
- Windows installer
- Linux
- Mac OSX
- Manual Install (Platform independent)
- Release notes
If you want an earlier release then these are still available via the calibre2opds Downloads section at GoogleCode.
Hi, I just love this application.
The resulted website from MY library of ebooks is amazing.
I was wondering if, in the next release, you could include a feature, to view the books in a turning fashion, like in calbre ?
I like to see my books rolling, one after the other.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, thanks for the praise ; the carousel idea is cool, I wonder if it’s difficult to do.
I’ve created a tracker for this new feature request, feel free to register to it so you’ll know when we implement it !
Great Application for indexing in calibre. thank for The Calibre2opds team
Could you please make available binaries for beta 3.01 ? The last beta has been released 4 month ago and has to many flaws.
seconded LeoH…would love to get my hands on the beta binary and am happy to do any bug reports, etc. from testing
It works fine in my synology NAS.
Now, I can get my own books in any place in the world.
Hi Rigoberto,
any way you can create an “how to” for Synology ?
Would be nice ;o)
Very usefull application. Thanks.
Could you fix the problem with special characters in the summary book. They don’t appears correctly or “hide” all text for example with the character “í”
I found a bug in BETA 2.5 Update 1
I used it to generate the catalogs from calibre and some of the book links didn’t work. I did some research and found that it is “case sensitive” in 2.5 and wasn’t in 2.4. In this case, “The Dogs of the Moon” is being ignored for the file name if it is instead “The Dogs Of The Moon”.
My recommendation is to make it not case sensitive since calibre gives each book it’s number case sensitivity shouldn’t be a factor.
I also checked and made sure that the information for the books were up-to-date before I ran calibre2opds and generated the library catalog.
Otherwise, I like the BETA as it resolved other issues and the product in general as it gives me access to my libraries when I travel.
When will be released 3.0?
Short answer : when it’s ready 😉
@MoBO
@calibre2opds team
subject : “How To” for Synology
I’ve one at home, a second is coming soon. Calibre2opds works perfectly, I like very much to browse catalog with my PC off.
I can create this “how to”, but …. I’m french and my english is very poor..
Is it a problem / interest for anybody if I create it in french ?
As it will be my first how to, I don’t know the best way to do at this time : video, pdf, etc…
Let me know what would be better.
PS : still waiting for release 3.0, may I suggest :
– possibility of various/custom skins or background images for HTML pages
– on HTML pages, add a link, for each ebook, to open the file(s) on devices or PC (instead of download) : it will be very helpfull in my local network, for reading on devices and PC without downloading each ebook from the NAS. I think it should be an option to check or not in calibre2opds before generating catalogs and/or html.
French wouldn’t be a problem. Au contraire même. 😉
You mention on other pages that there is a Mac .dmg file to download from this page.
I look around here and see no mention of the Mac or .dmg file anywhere.
How soon do you expect before the .dmg will be available for v2.4?
3.0 Is not generating the detailed book summaries for me. I can toggle whether or not the summary contains Series, Tags or Publisher, but the metadata in the calibre “comments” section is not coming across. When I changed back to 2.5 it worked again.
Are you using rev 150 or 151? A typo in rev 150 could cause this which was why rev 151 was promptly uploaded.
Thanks for pointing this out. When I checked the version I noticed that I was not using rev 151. I don’t think the latest version was in the windows installer when I downloaded. Either that or the old version was in my browser cache. In any case, downloaded again, re-installed and it works perfectly on my Win7 64x system. Thanks for the fantastic work Guys/Gals. My online catalogue is a deam.
Many thanks for generating a dmg for us Mac users.
Problem with Windows 7 64-bit and Calibre2OPDS:
After choosing install derictory I click Next and get to the blank page, there I have another Next button. Then I click that installation will freeze and nothing happen.
So I couldn’t install now Calibre2OPDS
Same for me. Installation crashes on win7x64
However, ‘Manual Install’ works perfect 😉
Great.
This is the best complement for Calibre application.
I have run caibre-opds in my Synology DS111 and works perfectly. I’d like more improvements in the future
Thanks
@Marcos @Cyana: as far as I can understand it’s something related with Java. For instance, if you install JDK (Developer’s Kit) instead of JRE, it’s being stuck on a blank screen. Try to install (or delete and then reinstall) the latest JRE and it should work
However, ‘Manual Install’ works perfect on win7 64bit
Great job ! (French version)
Bug : links to next page in “collections” do not work (duplicate number in url)
Improvements:
– make navigation easier : add ‘previous page’ buttons
– add direct access to a chosen page number
– add generic A to Z buttons in alphabetical pages
– repeat navigation buttons at the top of pages
– hyperlinkize the author names in all books listing
Thanks again
Here is an example of what I mean :
This is all manual editing of html file. Unfortunately, I’m not able to tweak the source code to generate this automatically – but shouldn’t be very difficult…
Just a comment.
accented vowels and special characters like ñ, crashes the “comment” field.
I need to run an external patch in my calibre database (metadata.db), before generate the catalog, in order to replace these special characters for the standard html.
Will be a good improvement in the future.
Nice job!
If this is still the case with the 3.1 release, can you please consider supplying a sample database that illustrates the problem plus steps to recreate it. We do not know about any remaining issues in this area.
If you have a problem database then you should raise an issue via the Calibre2Opds Issue register at http://calibre2opds.myjetbrains.com/youtrack/and then either attach the database directly (if it is small enough) or provide a link from which it an be downloaded. It can also be useful to provide a calibre2opds log from a run that goes wrong.
Wonderful !!!. I’ve run the Calibre2OPDS v3.1 and the special characters, now, appear correctly. Could be a bug only in a previous revision 2.4 or, even, an old Java?.
My personal opinion: Calibre2OPDS is the perfect complement for Calibre. Now I could share my personal library, within a Synology DS111
Thanks
If you have to setup environment variable JAVA_HOME manually, please pay attention that you have to use the ‘dos’ shortcut c:\progra~2 and not c:\program files (x86) as the spaces don’t work….
This should not be the case if you are using the latest version of the rungui.cmd or run.md files. If you think it is still an issue, then please raise an appropriate issue via the Calibre 2opds Issue register at http://calibre2opds.myjetbrains.com/youtrack/ .
Problems with non-ASCII characters in comments fields was a known issue in the calibre2opds 2.x series of releases. Because of the date of your original post I thought you were seeing it in the 3.0 release for which it is fixed as far as I know.
A little issue creating the catalog:
Calibre2OPDS clears all web folder whenever creates the catalog. I have a file for restrict the web access, called .htaccess
Each time the catalog is updated, I need restore the file .htaccess. Any idea to fix it?
The only suggestion I have for the short term is to move that file up a level into the Calibre library level. I believe that settings are typically inherited by sub-folders when using .htaccess files to control access?
I will make a note for the next release of Calibre2opds to add that particular file as one that should not be deleted when calibre2opds is trying to delete what it thinks are superfluous files within the catalog structure.
Nice.Thanks!
The idea of Denis regarding skins and background pictures, sounds good.
The 3.0 release introduced Customization features as described at http://calibre2opds.com/read-the-documentation/development/customization/. This could be used for this sort of capability.
dmg link doesn’t work…. workaround manually dwld it directly from googlecode
Maybe I’m missing something… I downloaded what I thought was the linux version of calibre2opds but got the Windows version instead. I tried this several times, and got the same results. Then I went to Softpedia, only to discover when I tried to download the linux version it was removed from their site. What am I missing here?
What makes you think it is the Windows” version? If it is the .jar file then it is the Linux version.as the Windows version is the .exe file. In fact the only difference is that the Windows version has the .jar file wrapped inside a .exe file as all versions of Calibre2Opds (Windows, Linux, Mac) have the same underlying Java binaries – it is only the installer that varies.
I stand corrected – my issue then is ignorance, I can’t seem to install this on my laptop which is running, Ubuntu 12.04. Isn’t there suppose to be an sh script? Anyways, do you know where I can find an installation tutorial or instructions that would guide me through the installation process? Your help would be appreciated! Thanks
The download is just a Java program. If you have Java installed on your system then ypou should be able to simply run it, and it will take you through the installation process. The screen-shots are virtually identical to the Windows ones except that paths will reflect a Linux environment.
I am afraid I do not know enough about Ubuntu to know how you check if Java is installed, and assuming it is whether you have to do anything special to run Java programs! On the other versions of Linux I have used I can simply double-click the downloaded file.and the system recognises it as a Java program and starts it appropriately.
OK, this is what I did to resolve my dilemma. Rather than use the downloaded Linux file, I downloaded the “Manual Install (Platform independent)” one. After extracting the zipped file, I opened a terminal and ran it using the following command: sh ./rungui.sh
It’s now working. Thanks for your help! 🙂
Hi, looks like the google drive is badly configured for the v3.3 beta, I’m unable to download it.
There seems to be an issue with Google Drive and ZIP files where it displays the contents of the ZIP file rather than downloading it. There is a download button on the bottom right but it is not obvious! At the moment I do not know how to get around this although I am sure it must be possible. In the mean time you can still get your downloads from the Google Code site as an alternative source.
Google will stop accepting new files for Download from 14th January 2014 which is why we are trying to take the recommended migration of Downloads to Google Drive.
I finally discovered you can click the “calibre2opds vX.X” headers to see the google drive downloads… because 3.2 and below have direct links, it was not obvious what you had to do to get 3.3 and 3.4…
Hi,
I am trying to use the calibre2opds for the FBReader application, but apparently I cannot use the output directly. I have pointed the FBReader to the index.xml (it was not able to find it automatically like it works with m.gutenberg.org, etc).
Also, I had to copy the contents of the Books folder in the root folder, otherwise is not able to find them. Now I can use the html version (via browser).
But I am still not able use the “search in catalog” functionality in the FBReader (it does not return anything).
Note: FBReader’s search in catalog functionality is a very stable one, and it works with most of the opds servers out there, so it’s either me doing something wrong, or there is some bug in the calibre2opds.
Can someone suggest what can I do?
